Snow Senior Photosession | Cle Elum Senior Photographer
I don't get to do that many snow senior sessions, mainly because, most high schools have a very early deadline for when pictures should be turned in. So, I was very excited when I got a chance to do this one!
I knew the perfect place right away, Swiftwater Cellars. It offers great parking, had access to restrooms and the roads are kept clear. As long as you have an all-wheel drive, you should be good to go.
Another great thing about doing a winter session is you don't have to worry about light too much. Sun is never so high that you would have to worry about ugly shadows. This allowed us to do the session right in the afternoon.
I don't like to use too many props in my pictures, I think Mother Nature is the best prop you can possibly find out there. I do like to ad just one or two if it helps with the story. My beautiful client wanted the same thing. She decided to have just one rose and her journal. Simple, yet so elegant and beautiful.
One of the challenges when shooting in snow is dealing with the cold. I'm usually always fine, because I move around so much I always end up hot, but it is very different for a client. They have to stand a lot without much movement and get cold really fast.
I always have them wear a coat to keep them warm until I get my setting just right and figure out where and how I want to take pictures. This usually really helps a lot. My beautiful client did really good, only after a couple hours she finally started getting really cold, that's when I knew to call it a rep.
We really enjoyed doing this session. There were so many beautiful places to shoot at, we were able to come up with many different backgrounds and ideas. At one point I found this dried up bush that didn't look like much but I knew right away that it would provide such nice and framing and help to accentuate her beautiful brown hair. That turned out to be one of my favorite pictures.
It reminds of a Mona Lisa for some reason. I shared the picture on the photography network and one other photographer said exactly same thing. So I much have been right.
One of my favorite parts is the actual session. I love being able to connect with my clients and make something beautiful and amazing.
